Coles Wholemeal & Grain Soft Wraps | Chewsday Review

  • May contain: milk.
Positives Positives
  • The sodium content of these Coles Wraps (377.5mg per 100g) is below our target, and similar to Woolworths Wholegrain Soft Wraps (351mg per 100g). This is less than half the sodium content of the saltiest wraps on the market, like Mission Wholegrain Wraps at 900mg sodium per 100g.
  • At 3.6g of fibre per serve, Coles wraps meet the target for fibre (3g per serve). Each wrap contains between 13- 25% of the recommended daily intake of fibre for kids (aiming for 14 – 28g of fibre per day depending on age and gender). This is similar to the fibre content of Woolworth Wholegrain Wraps (3.1g per serve) and Mission Wholegrain Wraps (3.8g per serve).
  • Similar to the Woolworths Wholegrain Wraps, the Coles Wholemeal and Grain Soft Wraps are cost effective at $2.40 per pack of 8 (or 30 cents per wrap). Mission Wraps cost more than double the price of the Coles option at $5.50 per pack of 8.
Negatives Negatives
  • The saturated fat content of the Coles wraps is 3.4g per 100g, which is slightly above recommendations of (3g per 100g). This is higher than Woolworths Wholegrain Wraps (2.6g saturated fat per 100g) but lower than Helgas Wholemeal Wraps (4.3g saturated fat per 100g).
  • These wraps contain palm oil. There isn’t any indication on the packaging that it is sustainably sourced.
  • These wraps are only available at Coles, however Woolworths have a similar option.
Marketing Marketing
  • “Delicious convenient wraps, great for lunch, dinner or snack. Ready to fill with your favourite ingredients.” True.
  • “Made in Australia from at least 85% Australian ingredients.” True. This is similar to other wraps on the market.
  • “Source of fibre.” Correct!
Alternatives Alternatives
  • Coles Wholemeal and Grain Soft Wraps are lower in salt and higher in fibre than many other wraps on the market.
  • For a similarly priced option with less saturated fat, check out Woolworths Wholegrain Wraps.
