- Wheat Flour, Sugar, Vegetable Oil (Antioxidant (E307b from Soy)), Oats (4%), Milk Powder, Cocoa Powder (2%), Vegetable Fibre, Honey, Emulsifier (Soy, Lecithin), Food Colour (Caramel I), Wheat Starch, Baking Powder, Natural Flavour.
- Allergens: Milk, Wheat, Gluten, Soy.
- May contain: Peanuts, Egg, Tree Nuts.
- Sodium is well below recommendations at 78mg per 100g. For comparison, Tiny Teddy Chocolate Biscuits have 298mg sodium per 100g and Mini Oreos have 532mg sodium per 100g.
- No tree nuts or peanuts make these suitable for lunchboxes if your school is nut-free.
- Total fat (16.6g per 100g) and saturated fat (4.9g per 100g) are above guidelines. This is similar to Tiny Teddy Chocolate Biscuits which has 13.4g of total fat per 100g and 6.g of saturated fat per 100g.
- Sugar creeps just above recommendations at 16.6g per 100g (aiming for less than 15g per 100g). The sugar content in these biscuits is lower than other mini biscuits on the market, such as Tiny Teddy Chocolate Biscuits (25.3g per 100g) and Mini Oreos (37.8g per 100g). Surprisingly, these Bluey biscuits have slightly less sugar than the No Nasties Project 50% Less Sugar Choc Chip Minis (17.8g per 100g).
- No surprise here that fibre was low at 1.3g per serve (aiming for 3g per serve). Most sweet biscuits are pretty low in fibre. I’d have like to have seen a bit more fibre in these biscuits due to the added oats, it seems such a missed opportunity.
- The marketing team have got us again with another tactical Bluey product. They sure know how to play the game!
- “No artificial colours, flavours, and preservatives.” True, but so are lots of other commercial biscuits.
- “3.5 health star rating.” The high-ish rating comes from the protein and fibre levels. It tells us that they compare a tiny bit better than other sweet biscuits.
- Overall, there is nothing super nutritious about these Bluey Cocoa and Oat biscuits. They are pretty similar to Chocolate Tiny Teddy’s, just with a bit less salt and sugar.
- Bluey Pizza Flavoured Snacks have a higher fibre content. They are a bit on the salty side, but are a reasonable option for a pre-packaged snack.
- If you’re after a sweet snack for lunchboxes, I’m a big fan of Carman’s muesli bars. If you really do need more Bluey in your life, you can also check out these Arnott’s Bluey Muesli Bars.
